Senior Adult Ministry
The Senior Adults at Temple Baptist Church want to invite anyone 55 years of age and older to join us in the many opportunities to serve, attend meetings and activities and to love on other seniors.
How you can serve:
The church has several ministry areas where seniors can serve. Seniors can help in the children’s ministry, student ministry, preschool, prayer ministry, counseling, choir, Celebrate Recovery, and many others. Ministries more specific to the Senior Adult population include: Love ‘N Action, hospital visitation of seniors, singing at senior homes, etc.
Meetings and Activities:
The Senior Adults have a meeting on the first Monday of each month at 12:30-2PM in the Family Life Center. It is a covered dish lunch and an opportunity to get to know other senior adults here at Temple. During the meeting we eat lunch and fellowship, have a short devotion and sometimes a guest speaker relevant to senior issues, and have a brief update from the treasurer, missions coordinator, and love ‘n action coordinator.
We also plan activities monthly, which include: ice cream socials, games, baseball games, trips to the aquarium, eating at our favorite restaurants, Mike’s Farm, associational meetings, musical events, and sometimes overnight trips to places like Myrtle Beach. We always find time to enjoy a meal together and fellowship during these activities. We are always open to new ideas, so come and join us and help us plan for the upcoming year.
You can sign up for our events on the Senior Board which is located in the hallway across from room 113. Please feel free to check out the events and join us. It is always a fun time.
Love ‘N Action
Frances Barron orchestrates this ministry and involves all who are willing and able to visit our shut-ins. Each shut-in is visited on a weekly basis by at least one or two people. Some expression of love is usually taken to each shut-in each month. This ministry is one of the most rewarding things we do. Please consider being a part of this great ministry of love. The opportunities for blessing are endless and you will discover that it truly is “more blessed to give than to receive.”
